Design of Biogas Power Plant

Design of the Biogas Power Plant in El Salvador

As announced by the Comisión Ejecutiva Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa (CEL), we are proud to have won, together with our German partner Fichtner Water & Transportation GmbH, the international public tender for the design of the Biogas Power Generation Plant on the Acelhuate River, El Salvador.

Project Description

Currently, wastewater from the metropolitan area of San Salvador (AMSS) is evacuated through five main sewers and discharged untreated into the network of tributary streams into the Acelhuate River.

This plant aims to convert a serious environmental problem into a self-sustainable electricity generation plant. The plant will clean up to 70% of the wastewater from the AMSS through the Acelhuate River, contributing to the environmental improvement of the country and at the same time generate electricity.

Main components:

-          Wastewater Collector.

-          Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)

-          Biogas Power Generation

-          Photovoltaic Generation

-          Small Hydroelectric Power Plant

-          Electrical Substation and Transmission Line

-          Complementary Works

Scope

Preparation of the final design, detailed engineering and bidding documents for the construction of the treatment plant (WWTP) and electricity generation from three energy sources: biogas, solar and hydroelectric.
